It is about to be over for the WNBA. As it appears, Caitlyn Clark has improved a major flaw in her game and this will unlock her to be the MVP. We got to break down the film.
Caitlyn Clark been in the gym cooking. She been cooking with hot grease, whipping up a pot of something. Caitlyn Clark in there whipping up a pot of something. It is what it is. We got to get to the footage.
Now, we know Caitlyn Clark loves to shoot from deep. Queen of the logo 3, the best shooter we’ve seen.
Now, let’s take a look at this practice footage and something that she is adding to her game. The attention is in the details. Greatness is in the details. Let’s take a look.
You going to see Caitlyn Clark here in practice and just pay attention to what she does. Pound dribble, side stepping, going right, pulling up. Bang. Cash.
Now, why is this such a big deal? Because we know that in games, teams have figured out if Caitlyn Clark goes left, she’s looking to pull up. If you push her to her right hand, she never feels comfortable going right and pulling up from deep or pulling up jump shots going right. If you push her to her right hand, she’s either going to throw it to the roll man, she’s going to pass it, or she’s looking to turn the corner and get all the way to the rim.
If you push her left, she’s looking to pull up. I don’t know why she stopped going left and shooting layups with her left hand. She used to do that plenty in Iowa and finish with her left hand.
WNBA teams know if Caitlyn Clark, if Aaliyah Boston is setting the screen and you allow Caitlyn Clark to turn the corner and go left, she’s pulling up. If you push her right, she’s not going to pull up because she doesn’t like to go right to pull up. So, her working on this shows you that she knows it’s a weakness and she’s working on it.
Have we seen her shoot threes? We’ve seen Caitlyn Clark most of the time go left to pull up from deep or be coming straight downhill and pull up. Not too many times we’ve seen her go right and pull up, very sparingly.
If she adds this, it ain’t nothing you could do. There’s nothing you can do. Going right, pull up. Bang.
Now, we going to get in-game footage because it plays in game. Pay attention. This is versus Chicago Sky. This is where the majority of Caitlyn Clark threes come from. Going right to left so that she can go left to pull up. It’s just a more comfortable shot for right-handers to go left to pull up.
Watch the film.
You got Aaliyah Boston coming up to set a ball screen at half court. She sets it and then she’s going to reset. This is where Caitlyn loves to pull up. Going back left, ball in her left hand, pull up, cash. That’s what she likes to do. She likes to go left to pull up and teams know that.
So, teams are pushing her to her right side. The fact that you see her working on getting that last dribble with her right hand and moving to the right side to pull up lets you know that she’s aware that this is something she has to work on and something that she is improving.
This is what we see Caitlyn do all the time. She wants to come back left to pull up. Now you see her working on going right to pull up.
Boom. Go right. Pull up. Boom. There we go.
If that’s something she can improve and do consistently, you’re not going to be able to stop her. You’re not going to be able to stop her when she completely adds this.
Now, let’s take a look at some of the other footage that she’s working on.
She in the gym cooking. We going left and now you’re going to see her coming right to pull up. Going left. Boom. Let’s go right. Go right.
Yeah. We not just going to be stuck going left to get the jump shot off. We can go left and right to pull up now.
I like the work. I like the work. We coming right, pulling up. I like it.
You know she likes to go left for that step back. You seen her step back right there. That’s the difference. When she went right, she went right into the shot.
Let’s take a look. When she goes to her right, she just walks right into it. You see how she walks right into it? Now, when she goes left, watch her step. You see her step back right there. That’s why I had it on the feet. The attention is in the details.
Caitlyn Clark been working on her game. Once she starts shooting going right, there’s nothing these teams are going to be able to do.
As of right now, these teams feel like they could push her to the right side and that eliminates her ability to shoot the three-point shot. She just doesn’t shoot it. You can find a clip here and there, but you’re not going to find many where she’s going right in Indiana Fever games and consistently pulling up.
The majority of the time she wants to cross over from right to left, get to that left hand, and pull up. Or she wants to be coming in a straight line. She’ll pull up going right, she’ll go right and do a snatch back, but when she snatches back, the ball is in her left hand, so it’s easier for her to bring her right hand and get the shot up.
Caitlyn Clark is in the gym whipping up a pot of something. I smell a WNBA MVP season. As long as Stephanie White stays out of this girl’s way, it is going to be an MVP season.
We got games coming up. We are this close to finally seeing Caitlyn Clark back in live-game Indiana Fever action. We got a small taste with the Team USA thing, and they was bringing her off the bench doing all types of crazy stuff.
Who do you know that doesn’t play for months and months, pops up at Team USA, and wins MVP? Who do you know does that?
And all of y’all complaining that she got all the nationally televised games, what you mean? It’s the Clark show. The show has arrived.
She got everybody paid. Why are y’all complaining? Y’all want to keep getting money, right? The networks need good ratings and Caitlyn Clark is going to bring you the best ratings possible.
Get down in the comments and let me know what you think about this small adjustment that Caitlyn Clark is bringing to her game.
