WNBA players disrespect national anthem

WNBA Players WALK OUT on National Anthem While Fans Watch in Shock

WNBA players disrespect national anthem again, proving once more why fans can’t take this league seriously.

They don’t get it. They just don’t get it. And honestly, at this point, I don’t think they ever will. The WNBA has done everything possible to drive away fans, and last night’s little stunt was just another chapter in their never-ending clown show.

While the Indiana Fever were lined up on one side of the court, hands over their hearts, actually respecting the national anthem, the Las Vegas “Anonymous Faces” (because who even knows their names outside of A’ja Wilson?) decided the best way to honor the country that pays their salaries was to simply… not show up. The entire side of the floor was empty. A ghost town.

Now tell me, how do you expect anyone to respect your league when you can’t even respect the anthem of the country that bailed out your so-called “star” Brittney Griner from her Russian vacation with Vlad Putin? When she was stuck overseas, WNBA players were crying for American power to bring her back home. But when it comes time to honor America? Crickets. Locker room silence.

Manufactured Drama Is All They Have

Four or five years ago, this would’ve made headlines. Now? No one in the mainstream media cares. ESPN barely whispers about it. Why? Because the only time the WNBA generates attention is through drama and controversy. The basketball itself? Boring, sloppy, and unwatchable.

Think about it. This is a league where routine layups are missed on a nightly basis. Where empty arenas get passed off as “sellouts.” And yet they still find ways to alienate the few fans they do have by disrespecting the anthem.

It’s like WWE when you’re a kid. At first, you believe it’s real. Then you grow up and realize it’s all make-believe. That’s the WNBA. Pretend basketball.

Caitlin Clark Fans Carrying the Whole League

The only reason some people are showing up to games is Caitlin Clark. That’s it. She’s the WNBA’s lifeline, the one reason attendance isn’t a total embarrassment.

A viewer who went to last night’s game told me point blank: “I wouldn’t waste money on this unless Caitlin was there.” That’s how it works. Clark brings fans. Clark brings attention. Clark brings hope.

Meanwhile, the rest of the league? Doing everything possible to drag the product down. If not for Clark, the WNBA might as well be holding practices in high school gyms.

No Respect Given, No Respect Earned

I don’t respect the WNBA because they’ve shown zero respect for the country, the military, and the fans. You can’t deliver a second-rate product AND spit in the face of the people giving you the platform.

This is why the WNBA will never succeed. Not because women can’t play sports. Not because the game can’t be exciting. But because the league itself seems more focused on political posturing and cheap drama than actually improving their on-court product.

Until that changes, don’t expect respect. Don’t expect fans. And definitely don’t expect anyone outside of Caitlin Clark’s circle to care.

Sound off in the comments. Do you think the WNBA will ever learn, or is it destined to stay a glorified sideshow?
