Kelsey Mitchell Unrivaled 2026

Kelsey Mitchell Has OFFICIALLY Joined Unrivaled For 2026

Kelsey Mitchell joins Unrivaled for 2026, bringing excitement to the offseason and raising questions about roster dynamics, gameplay, and the impact on fans and players alike.

Kelsey Mitchell has officially signed with Unrivaled for the 2026 season. Honestly, it’s a little surprising to me because of her “time off” bonus situation. If you remember, those bonuses were for players who didn’t play overseas or elsewhere. Richard Cohen, the hoop stats guy, broke this down recently. The bonus allowed players to sit out for up to 90 days, but Unrivaled stretches longer than that. So, does Kelsey have to repay the bonus? Is she going part-time? Nobody seems to know.

For me, I actually like that Unrivaled is starting early this year—January 5th. It gives us basketball content right when the WNBA offseason kicks in. But with all the top-tier players signed for Unrivaled, who knows what the actual matchups will look like. Honestly, it’s going to be fun to watch and see how it all plays out.

Now, about the format—last year I hoped for 4v4, thinking 3v3 is gimmick basketball. But it’s still six players per team. That’s annoying, especially considering how many hardship players were needed last year. They’ve only announced half the players so far, and Kelsey Mitchell is a huge addition. Other big names like Aaliyah, Lexi… it’s shaping up to be exciting.

That said, I don’t love that players are basically stuck on the same teams as last year. Some of the previous rosters had triple bigs, and now the new players are mostly guards. Teams like the one with Monnique Billings, Kiki, and the others—while talented—might not even rank above last year’s Team Cancun. The logic of sticking players to certain teams doesn’t make much sense.

Honestly, a draft would be better. Let the captains pick their teams in person. Make it fun. Make it competitive. If you want an example: Paige Becker captains Hive, Brianna Stewart takes Mist, Kelsey Mitchell gets Breeze… let them build their squads. With players like Cambrink in Lunar’s team, it’s going to be stacked, and having a draft would balance things out a bit.

Another interesting point—people are talking about Caitlyn Clark possibly playing. I think it’d be good for her, not for social reasons, but to work on her one-on-one game, which she really needs. She’s not necessarily going to dominate Unrivaled, though. Last year, guards didn’t shine that much. Even someone like Chelsea Gray mainly spot-up shot or post-up plays from the three-point line. Guards don’t have as much room to showcase themselves, and the same could happen with Caitlyn.

Regardless, it’s exciting to have Kelsey Mitchell in the mix. For fans, this is a way to catch her in action without watching endless Chinese league games, which I spent way too much time on last year. So yeah, I’m genuinely looking forward to Unrivaled 2026—it’s going to be a lot of fun.
